IPAF Mobile Vertical/Mobile Boom Operator (3a+3b)

What is the course?

Powered access machinery can cover a range of different equipment such as scissor lifts, boom lifts and aerial work platforms etc. If you are purely using one type of equipment then you should opt for the Single Category version of the course; more than one, then go for the Dual Category course.

The course will look at all types of equipment including scissor lifts, boom lifts (trailer mounted), boom lifts that are self-propelled & aerial work platforms etc.

How is the course taught and assessed?

This is just a one-day course which will include introduction, pre-course theory test and practical training. At the end, there will be a practical assessment and a theory test.

What qualification will I receive?

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive an IPAF Certificate and an IPAF Smart Powered Access Licence (PAL) Card (valid for 5 years). For those that already have the PAL Card, the categories of Mobile Vertical (3a) and Mobile Boom (3b) will be added, with the expiry date remaining as is.

What can I do next?

After this course, you can go for the advanced PAL+ Card. To obtain this, you need to take part in the IPAF Advanced Course which is suitable for operators working in high risk situations.

There are also other courses available that cover a wide range of varied mobile elevating platforms.

Entry requirements

You just need to be fluent in English, both verbal and written.
