PASMA is the Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association. One of its chief goals is to promote safe and effective industry standards in many different industries and sectors. It is an independent, self-funding industry body.
PASMA both produces and maintains a training scheme for mobile access towers, called the PASMA Certificate. These have fully incorporated the latest Work at Height Regulations and are considered the industry standard. It also promulgates the PASMA Tower Code of Practice, also an industry standard.
More than 60,000 workers each year attend PASMA-approved training courses in the UK alone. There is a PASMA course for nearly anyone who works at height on prefabricated scaffolding, and each course addresses the different safety and usage challenges provided by a different class of device.
No matter which course you take, as fully certified PASMA instructors, we can assure you of gaining:
Anyone who has (or is seeking) a role that involves using, inspecting, assembling, dismantling or using a mobile access tower of any kind should consider taking a course as soon as possible. In fact, finding employment in a role that requires you to use any kind of access tower in the UK would be difficult without a PASMA certificate and ID card.
Most UK employers demand PASMA certification before they will hire an operative for any role involving an access tower. Better still, though, PASMA-approved training and certification make certain that you have the skills you need to work safely. That would be important, even if it weren’t actually required.
That depends chiefly on what kind of access towers or related equipment you are or will be called upon to use in your role, and the level of responsibility your role calls for. Several different courses have been developed, each with its own focus. Even those who will not be called upon to erect, dismantle, move or maintain an access tower but will need to work atop one can benefit from the Work at Height Essentials Course.
