The two different cards are: 1)Trainee Card for craft and operative and 2) Trainee Card for Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Management. The first trainee card is valid for 3 years and can be applied for if the applicant is registered for a NVQ/SVQ level 2 or 3 and have passed the basic health and safety test.

The second trainee card is also valid for 3 years and can be applied for if the applicant is registered with a further higher educational institution for a recognized construction occupation and also pass the Managerial and Professional Health and Safety test.
