How is the course taught and assessed?

Teaching takes place through discussion in a classroom setting and through a series of practical exercises. Participants are assessed on their theoretical knowledge and practical competence.

Who should take this course?

This course is suitable for both trainees with no prior knowledge and experienced Lorry Loaders looking to refresh their skills.

The course includes instruction in three particular subtypes of equipment:

  • A36A: Hook
  • A36B: Clamshell Bucket
  • A36C: Hydraulic Clamp

The course length differs, dependent upon a participant’s prior degree of experience. Experienced candidates will take an abridged 2-day course, while beginner candidates will complete a full 5 days of training.

What qualification will I receive?

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be accredited with the CITB National Construction certificate, in addition to the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card upon successful completion of the CPCS Technical Tests.

Entry requirements

Course participants are required to hold a current and valid CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) for managers and professionals, attained within two years of the course. Candidates are also expected to have a good level of fluency in both spoken and written English.

What can I do next?

Once candidates have successfully completed this course, they will be eligible to undertake further courses in Pedestrian Operated Tower Crane, Mobile Crane, Management of Lifting Operation in Construction and the Competent Operator Card.
