The IPAF MEWPs for Managers course takes place over one day and provides delegates with all the skills they need to safely and efficiently co-ordinate and manage several common types of mobile elevating work platforms.
Topics covered over the day-long course include health and safety regulations, personal protection equipment (PPE), accident prevention and control as well as pre-use checks and maintenance of equipment. Managers need to fully understand how to take a project from planning stage, right through risk assessment and selecting the right equipment in the safest possible way.
For this course delegates will experience both classroom teaching and practical sessions involving real equipment. The course concerns planning, supervising and managing the use of powered access and not about the specifics of the operating equipment itself. Candidates will be expected to complete a written test and will be assessed on this and their practical understanding throughout the day.
For those with an IPAF PAL card, once the course is completed they can add the ‘MM’ (MEWPs for Managers) category to their card. This certification will be valid for 5 years. Those individuals who do not hold an IPAF Operator’s License will be given a training certificate.
The MEWPs for Managers certification is added to an individuals IPAF PAL card and therefore once accredited it is worth looking into other categories that can be added to your card and to build up knowledge and expertise in a number of areas.
