The practice DVD released by CITB every year contains information to help you revise as well as a comprehensive mock exam for you to take so that you can get practice in as well. It has all the information you need in order to pass, as well as important changes to legislation, question content, and even the format of the questions and test. It can be bought online or at your local bookstore, along with the revision book.
If you want to get the most out of your revision, you will need to purchase the 2018 practice DVD as this will have been updated with new question content, as well as the previously mentioned information. The DVDs are widely available right now, but make sure you pick the new one up instead of the old one, as some stores will not have changed their stock around yet. Here is the product code for the DVD that you need:
The reason it is important to be using the most recently updated version is not just because of the new information and legislative changes, it is also because the test itself changes after June 1st. Here are the new questions styles that are about to be introduced by CITB:
Aside from all the information you need to take the test, it also covers each of the specialist activities so that you can be fully prepared regardless of your role. Here are the specialist areas covered:
There are four main stages that this practice DVD will take you through, and you can progress through each of them at your own pace. The first section is filled with useful information about how to book your test, how to prepare, and what will happen on the day of the exam.
Next, you can watch the Setting Out film to get a feel for what the behavioural case studies within the test are like, as well as reading through mock questions to test your knowledge and understanding of each of the topics. This will help you to prepare for the big day.
Then you can build practice tests and begin to familiarise yourself with how things are laid out, the kind of time you have, and also get to grips with the behavioural section. Once you have done this, it is time to move onto the full mock tests and tutorials so that you can get the full experience.
As with the operatives and specialist DVD, the managers and professionals one also covers the specific areas that you may work in, giving you a better chance of success. Here are each of the areas:
There are also four stages of progression for this test DVD as well, starting with the useful information about how to book your test, what to do on the day, and the ways in which you can start preparing for it.
The Setting Out film is also provided here to give you a good idea of what the behavioural case studies are like, allowing you to start getting used to the concept and feel. You also have the chance to read through practice questions and test out your knowledge to make sure you have a firm grasp on everything.
Once you are ready, you can do the sample test for the behavioural case study, as well as a few practice questions so that you get used to the format and layout. Once you are ready and comfortable, you can then progress to the full test experience with tutorials and full-length mock exams that you can practice in preparation.
